Get to know the CIO Studio Team

As CIO Studio continues to grow fast, so does our team of expert CIOs! Our newest Core Advisor Ed Overy comes with an exciting background leading IT for major transportation agencies like KiwiRail, Airways, and Air New Zealand, and is currently developing a digital strategy for the NZ Defence Force.

What is your role with CIO Studio?

I'm a Core Advisor.


What do you do on a daily basis with CIO Studio?

I help advise clients on their digital and technology needs and bring about significant change programmes.


What excites you most about your role?

Bringing my experience to bear for their benefit and really making a difference.

What does the word “digital” mean to you?

Digital is a way of thinking and doing business.


What’s the opportunity – where do you see digital taking us in the next 3-5 years?

Digital is changing the way in which we think about organisations.

How do you stay up-to-date with all the changing tech?

Reading, networking, and podcasts.

OK, the big question... Teams, Zoom or Google Meet?

Teams. I'm most used to it and it's become pretty feature-rich.

When you're not leading digital teach, where can we find you?

Doing something with the family.


Where would we find you on a sunny Saturday afternoon? At the beach in Mangawhai Heads either gardening or in the sea.

What was the last holiday you took?


West Coast South Island - a hikoi to my Marae.

One last question... Coffee or Tea?

Coffee in the morning, black gumboot tea for the rest of the day.
